Die Schachtel presents Swimming Sound, an interactive sound installation made up of an aquarium, red fishes and 144 sensitive loudspeakers which generate a sound that can be tuned both in pitch and volume during the final setup of the work. The work is ironic about the idea of interactivity which in recent years has been the magical word for most works. Interactivity has been handed over to some red fish unaware of their precious contribution and unaffected by the artistic event. The shadow of the fish in an aquarium is cast on the sensitive loudspeakers which react with a group ofsounds, at long last lend a voice to the fish. A fish passing in front of the loudspeakers casts his shadow on the installation: the sudden lack of light gets each shaded loudspeaker to produce it's sound.
Die Schachtel rinnova l'indagine sulla ricerca sonora e visiva con uno straordinario lavoro di Ennio Bertrand intitolato Swimming Sounds. Si tratta di un installazione sonora costituita da un acquario, dei pesci rossi e da 144 piccoli altoparlanti che hanno la proprietà di generare una nota fondamentale (che può essere intonata in altezza e volume). Il lavoro ironizza sul concetto di interattività e di interazione, che caratterizza molti aspetti della produzione artistica recente. L'interattività è stata delegata a dei pesci rossi, del tutto ignari del loro prezioso apporto e insensibili all'evento artistico, la cui ombra è proiettata sugli altoparlanti sensibili che reagiscono con un insieme di suoni, dando finalmente voce ai pesci. Quando questi transitano di fronte agli altoparlanti, proiettatano la propria ombra sull'installazione: l'improvvisa mancanza di luce fa reagire gli altoparlanti rimasti in ombra che emettono il loro suono.
